(based in Auckland or Palmerston North)

Reporting to GM Speirs Finance


Job Responsibilities include:

Credit and lending support

  • Provide agents and their clients with a first line credit assessment and analysis of proposed deals including deal structure.
  • Support agents with credit submissions that comply with Speirs Finance credit and funding requirements in order to speed up credit decisioning process.
  • Act as an intermediary between agents and relevant internal Speirs Finance teams to ensure the efficient processing and approval of deals.
  • Liaise closely with the Head of Lending and Risk in relation to the Speirs Finance credit portfolio

As this role will carry a Decision Lending Authority (DLA) up to $500,000 (DLA may be adjusted subject to approval from the Head of Lending and Risk), compliance with all Credit Policy & Procedures.

Agent Relationships

  • Spend time in the market meeting with and developing close working relationships with the agents and their clients
  • Build a deep understanding of the end clients' businesses, enabling Speirs Finance to provide solutions tailored to their specific needs
  • Build trust and support with the agents by demonstrating capability (particularly in relation to credit assessment and analysis)
  • Work alongside the GM Speirs Finance to develop and implement strategies for growth

Training & Support

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the finance industry within which Speirs Finance operates. Be aware of micro and macro issues that could impact agents and their clients.
  • Support the GM Speirs Finance with ongoing training and support to agents about Speirs Finance, its value proposition for clients. our credit policy and systems & processes to support the growth and quality of the Speirs Finance agent network.
  • Develop direct reports and enhance their skills through coaching and sharing best practice

Communication

  • Maintain effective communication with all internal stakeholders, in particular the credit (including asset management), sales and finance teams.
  • Have a high level of financial acumen and literacy and be able to articulately communicate with Speirs Finance Agents and their clients.
  • Close day-to-day coordination with the Credit team to ensure timely submission and approval of Speirs Finance deals.
  • Transparent and open communication with key internal stakeholders, building trust and confidence. Openness to feedback and frank discussion on performance and new ideas and strategies.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Minimum of 8 years' demonstrable work experience in related field and/or position
  • Minimum of 10 years demonstrated leadership skills
  • A recognised tertiary qualification
  • Expertise in assessing and managing credit risk for SME market
  • Proven ability to prepare and report within tight timeframes
  • Experience in commercial relationship management with demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Good understanding of NZ's regulatory framework relating to commercial asset finance
